I am a New York state licensed psychotherapist. I have a Master’s of Social Work from Yeshiva University and pursued my postgraduate clinical training at the Training Institute for Mental Health and the Ackerman Institute for the Family. I am also a credentialed nutritionist with a Master’s degree from Columbia University. My early professional background is in childhood education.
As a healthcare professional and psychotherapist I have been privileged to engage with patients whose resilience and strengths are extraordinary. In my psychotherapy practice I enjoy helping patients who seek therapy for a variety of reasons, whether dealing with long-standing emotional issues, confronting a difficult circumstance, or seeking to make some meaningful change in their life. In addition to being a general psychotherapist, I take special interest in singles and couples considering or in the process of having children by in vitro fertilization (IVF) or surrogacy, whether with their own, or donor egg. So many are fortunate to have beautiful and sometimes long awaited children through these alternative means, yet it is not always an easy path. I am committed to supporting you through this process. In addition to my professional qualifications, my personal experience enhances my passion for and understanding of the many facets of family building through assisted reproduction. It is my privilege to accompany you on this journey.
Before creating my psychotherapy practice, for over a decade I worked at major academic medical centers on adult and pediatric units, with families facing the emotional impact of critical illness and related medical and end of-life decisions. For several years I served on an interdisciplinary healthcare team treating breast cancer patients in the community, where I counseled on the emotional impact of cancer on the individual and family. I bring the benefit of these and other rich and varied professional experiences to my current practice.
